I just made my first ever purchase. The crocodile-liveried Audi R8 that I watched in Adelaide back in 2000. (Not the actual pic yet.)

I was image searching for nostalgia, stumbled across pictures of models, and one thing led to another. So... I guess I'm down the rabbit hole.

Oh dear, what have you done :)
Good choice for your first.

Statistically most "rock spiders" have spent some time in their lives as a church youth group leader.
Think about that.

Looks like a gateway model to me - it all starts with just 1. :P

Welcome to the rabbit hole, there's a few of us down here. Is it a 1/43rd made by IXO? If so, I've got my eye on one, would be interested in what you think of the quality. If it is 1/43rd, you know you can pair that up with the crocodile livery R8 from the Bathurst 12 Hour - made by Spark.

Not 100% confirmed yet but Crocodile Audi Mk II (2015 12 Hour, #16) in 1/18th may be getting made too. Fingers crossed.

Nice collection! My highlights are the wee Speedway cars, what looks like Webber's Jag F1, and the Ch7 Torana.

Stunning!

What do you guys do with the boxes and bases? It's the kind of thing I don't want to display, but don't want to throw away...

Definitely don't throw them away. I tape the mounting screws to the base, put the lid on, inside the cardboard box, and then keep them all in a larger cardboard box. I will need a new large box soon, so I might have to buy a new printer or something B) It's easier for me with mine being all 1/43rd.
