You'd think that with the amount of sausages sold to fund his racing, that Todd would get sponsorship from Primo or KR Castlemaine.

So weekend #1 of Supercars has been run and won. Being in a personal recovery mode, I was sofa bound for most of Friday to Sunday, and saw almost all of it. What struck me was ...

1) The V8 powered ZB seems to be on the ball from the get-go. What will the V6TT do, perhaps the most interesting point this year?
2) Davo in the 23Red Falcon must have had a better weekend than everybody expected. Were the old LDM VFs just old nails past their use by date, or has the addition of the new team owner brought real momentum to this team?
3) Nissan still mid pack at best, unfortunately. Love the Castrol livery on Ricko's car.
4) My TV must have different reception to those in race control. After SVG's Saturday pole time was put on hold due to exceeding track limits, I went back and looked at each of the other 9 cars at T7. None of them went all 4 wheels over the control line like SVG did - and yet, without showing us any evidence, "most of the other drivers did it" according to the commentators later. Mr Dane must have awesomely excellent powers of suggestion ...

5) But what struck me most of all was the hypocrisy of Ford. I like Fords, I have a BFII XR6 as my daily driver, and would love a new Mustang. But, no, they don't want to throw support dollars at the Ford teams. No, they don't want to let Ford teams use the Mustang body in VASC. But who was a named sponsor of the 10 broadcast? Yes, Ford, specifically featuring the Mustang! I really hope that means they will be releasing permission for Mustang body panels to be allowed from 2019 ...

Yeah I was really pleasantly surprised by Davison and 23Red. Will gets a bad wrap but remember, he's won for every team that he's driven for so it would be great if he could get a win for the new(ish) team (after Adelaide I genuinely think he could do it too).

According to Rick Kelly, the line debacle was brought up before the shootout in the drivers briefing and drivers were told to ignore it because it had been painted by accident (one of those small grassfire that becomes a bushfire arguments).

I agree, after they said that 9/10 cars went 'over' at the exit of turn 6 I went back (on the PVR recording) to see, and I couldn't see it either.

As for the ZB homologation CoG debacle, same thing applies really - typical Holden/888 smokescreen. No advantage? Then why make the panel work they needed to run ballast?

Although I certainly wouldn’t be rushing out to buy tickets to see this series on its own, I could see it as being a good undercard category at a Supercars event. Certainly more interesting than a bunch of dual cab utes, those ridiculous stadium super trucks & Aussie racing cars running around. They remind me of something out of a circus……then again, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised.
