So... what a finisher!

I wanted Nico to take this one. I was shouting and swearing at Lewis as he pulled his antics. But in hindsight, he was only doing what he could to get the WDC. Show me a driver who isn't ruthless, and I'll show you one who isn't a champion. In the end we got an insanely tense finale, and Nico sure earned his silverware.

Now, fingers crossed for a shakeup next year.

Not a Hamilton fan, however I have no problem with the tactic.
Hopefully RB and Ferrari can close the gap even more next year.

Will be interesting to see how the all new PU for Renault goes next year.
They reckon they maxed out the performance of the current unit so have started with a clean slate.

Agreed guys, I have to wonder about all the people who were angry/upset at Hamilton's tactics. Mind you, how he could have thought that with the way he was varying his speed to make sure Rosberg couldn't overtake him, but somehow that Vettel was going to be able to get Rosberg, is classic racing driver unrealistic optimism!

Comments and actions post-race, and post Rosberg's retirement (who saw that one coming?), well not surprising from Hamilton.

If people are interested, I help run a F1 tipping competition. All run non for profit, adds a little extra spice to the races and season.

If people are interested I'll post something up when we start taking entries for the 2017 season. Also ran the same for the MotoGP too

With all the talk on bottas joining merc it looks like another young driver is going to get overlooked in f1, being pascal wehrlein. He has done everything right, winning the 2015 dtm title, emulating jules bianchi and scoring a lone point for manor. Young, smart and ready to deliver merc are going to overlook him for a driver who despite showing some brilliance early on hasn't really done anything amazing recently and had a drive locked in. Whats the point of a driver academy when you get someone as seemingly good as pascal and throw him to the wolves when he should be being embraced? Even just a years contract if they want to keep an eye on ocons progress would have been just reward and given him a chance.

I don't really rate Bottas but I'm sure he will work well at Mercedes in a supporting role. I'm sure his contract will suck to make it easy for Lewis.

If I was in charge, I would have picked Sergio Perez. He doesn't get much attention because everyone raves about Hulkenberg but I think Sergio is the quicker driver. Werhlein is good but probably still a bit too new to F1 for a team like Mercedes. If it was Red Bull then he would be in for sure as they put more trust in young drivers. I'm sure he is the long term prospect for Mercedes.

I agree regarding perez though the year at McLaren certainly created some question marks regarding his career that he didn't need. Was it the team, was it the car, were the cars characteristics not suited to him? He certainly loves the environment at force india and he delivered once again this year.

That merc seat is such a double edged sword, you get the best car in the business but you also go up against the best and most ruthless team mate in the sport.

Have to agree. I like the LH story, being picked up and mentored by McLaren from a very young age, through to multiple World Championships. However, based purely on the person we see in race broadcasts I have a dislike for the guy himself. He seems to be very much all about himself, and i don't think "team" is in his dictionary. Having won the F1 Championship, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the real underlying reason for Rosberg's retirement was that he simply did not want to face another full season of Hamilton petulance pre. during, and post races.

As for Bottas, I guess we will see if he can cut the mustard at the top or not. Was a lacklustre 2016 down to the Williams, or him? At least Rosberg's decision throws more interest in to F1 for 2017.

That Sauber looks beautiful. The livery and shape just work perfectly. It's a shame we probably won't see it up the front.

The difference in those two is quite noticeable around the airbox. It'll be an interesting year, I hope Ricciardo can bring home at least some of the chocolates.

More launches. Pics are from this album: imgur.com/a/4jSro

Renault RS17

Arrows, er, McLaren-Honda MCL32

Force India VJM10

Ferrari SF70H

Mercedes W08

Notice the cheeky "t-wings" sitting up back on the Merc and Ferrari. Apparently they've exploited a hole in the regs, where there there are no bodywork restrictions in a 50mm area between the rear of the bodywork / sharkfin, and the start of the rear wing. This smells like a hole that will be plugged before Melbourne. In the meantime we've still got some launches to come, and I'm keen to see what Newey & co have done with the Red Bull. They rarely miss a trick.

Some discussion on the loophole: www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/5vxok...whale_tail_loophole/

I help run a tipping comp for the F1 season. Entry fee is $30 and all run non for profit. We have end of year prizes, round jackpots and so on.
For those that are extra keen there is a $50 option but read the details to get the idea.
